Tailams are made by processing either gingelly oil or coconut oil as a base with an assortment of Kwathas and Kalkas. A portion of oil is blended with 4 times the amount of the recommended Kwatha and 1/4 amount of Kalkas and prepared in a controlled temperature while ceaselessly blending the combination.
This is done until the tailam gets the Samyak Paka Lakshanas as recommended in the course books of Ayurveda.
